How the destiny matrix is calculated
The destiny matrix is a modern system, usually credited to Natalia Ladini, that places your date of birth onto the 22 Major Arcana of the Tarot. It is not an ancient tradition and not an astronomical calculation: there are no planets, no birth time and no birth place involved. Everything comes from plain arithmetic on the day, month and year you were born, which is why two people with the same birthday always get the same matrix.
Every position holds a number from 1 to 22. When a sum goes above 22, it is replaced by the sum of its digits until it fits: 47 becomes 4 + 7 = 11. Some sources subtract 22 instead, which gives different results; we use the digit-sum rule because it is what the two independent public calculators we checked against both use.
Take a birth date of 15 March 1990. The day point is 15. The month point is 3. The year point is 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19. The fourth point, often called the sum or karmic task, is 15 + 3 + 19 = 37, reduced to 10. The center of the matrix is the sum of all four: 15 + 3 + 19 + 10 = 47, reduced to 11, which is Strength.
These five numbers form a diamond. A second square is drawn over it, and its four corners are the sums of neighbouring points (day plus month, month plus year, and so on). The vertical line from month to sum is the sky axis, the horizontal line from day to year is the earth axis, and the diagonals give the two ancestral lines. Further sums give the purpose points, the money line, the relationship point and the karmic tail. The outer eight points also form an age scale: each marks the start of a decade of life, beginning with the day point at birth.

What is a destiny matrix?
The destiny matrix is a modern self-reflection system that maps your date of birth onto the 22 Major Arcana of the Tarot. Each position in the chart carries one arcana number from 1 to 22, and each position describes a different area of life: your core, how others see you, your karmic task, money, relationships. It is a symbolic system, not a scientific or astronomical one.
How is the destiny matrix calculated?
With simple arithmetic on your birth date. The day, the month and the sum of the year digits give the first three points; their sum gives the fourth, and the sum of all four gives the center. Any number above 22 is replaced by the sum of its digits until it is 22 or less. The corners, lines and chakra numbers are sums of these points, reduced the same way.
Do I need my birth time or place?
No. The destiny matrix uses only your date of birth. Time and place matter for an astrological birth chart, where planets and houses depend on the exact moment and location, but they play no part in the matrix.
Why is arcana 8 Justice and 11 Strength here?
The destiny matrix follows the Marseille order of the Tarot, where 8 is Justice and 11 is Strength. The popular Rider-Waite deck swaps those two cards. We keep the Marseille numbering so that the name of each arcana matches the meaning the system gives to its number.
Why might another calculator show different numbers?
There is no single standard for every position. Some calculators subtract 22 instead of adding up the digits of a large number, and some build the karmic tail from a different corner. We use the digit-sum rule and the tail formula that two independent public calculators agree on, and we checked our results against both.
